Think about the 1950's. There was distinct cohesive design everywhere. The cars. Fashion. Music. A way of speaking. There are many of these markers that can be easily tied to the 1950's by just about anyone. The same can be said for the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. Then it starts to get weird. In the early aughts, when both the internet rose to prominence and wide global use, along with the birth of smart phones and rapidly evolving social media - the zeitgeist becomes irrevocably altered. In reflection, can you name any firm, tried and true, design markers such as music and fashion that can be heavily and widely attributed to the aughts or teens? How has the technological revolution that connected the planet dissolved our undercurrent of connectivity?
